Gustavo Dantas and Robson Moura will be teaching a Gi Seminar on March 20th from 10 am to 1:00 pm. The seminar will take place at Martial Arts Advantage. Everyone who pre-registers by March 16th will receive a free seminar T-Shirt and a free issue of Gracie Mag. The seminar is open to everyone.
This seminar will cover specific techniques, tips, and exercises focused on strengthening and fine tuning your competitive game. From working out of tough positions and situations to learning how to use the IBJJF rules in your favor, the 1st Tampa FUSION Seminar will give you the tools you need to have an extra edge over your opponents.
For those who may not know, Fusion is the title of Robson Moura’s Instructional DVD series which is produced by World Martial Arts. GD Jiu-Jitsu at East West MMA
The main sponsor of the 5th AZ International Open of BJJ on March 13th and 14th, the clothing company, Many Weapons, visited East West MMA in East Mesa, AZ on February 2nd. Gustavo Dantas and Bob Merriman have been responsible for the BJJ program since December of 2009. Check out all the pictures at the Many Weapons Website.

Due to low attendance, starting on February 16th, the morning No-Gi classes at Arizona Combat Sports (10:00 to 11:30 am) will be replaced by Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (Gi) Classes. The No-Gi training will still be available on Tuesday & Thursday Nights, plus the MMA Class Monday through Friday.
Judo Classes are now available on Tue and Thur from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm with Steve Judson. With the tournament season coming up ( AZ Open, Pan-Ams, etc.), this class is highly recommended for our Competition Team and all students interested in competing in future tournaments looking to improve their takedown abilities and techniques.

Crossfit Southwest is Arizona’s oldest CrossFit Affiliate, and have been providing top-flight fitness and instruction to AZ CrossFitters since 2005. We offer individual and group training, focusing on CrossFit, Academy/Bootcamp preparation, Olympic Weightlifting and Sport Specific programs, and general fitness.
CrossFit is a workout program that combines elements of gymnastics, Olympic Weightlifting, and resistance training with traditional and non-traditional tools. The basis of the CrossFit workout methodology is the workout of the day (”WOD”). The WOD varies considerably from day to day; each workout taxing your body differently, allowing you to push your limits while recovering from previous workouts.

5 competitors, 6 medals!
The Abu Dhabi West Coast Trials took place in Santa Cruz, CA on January24th. Acting as a qualifier for the richest and most prestigious Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu event on the planet, the Abu Dhabi Pro, the West Coast Qualifier featured the best of the best congregating upon Northern California in the United States.
The winners from the American event will compete with the best grapplers and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu athletes from across the world and for the chance at winning a massive USD$145,000 in cash and prizes at the Abu Dhabi Pro on April 15th to 17th. Team GD Jiu-Jitsu/Nova Uniao will be represented by Issa Able, who had seven matches to win the Blue Belt Light weight, and the Blue Belt Open Class under 161 lbs.
